Pumpkin Pulling
No matter what is going on in our worlds around this time of year, a proper pumpkin pulling is always on the docket. Somehow, Nick’s Garden Center in Aurora just turned out to be our family’s annual place to pick our perfect gourds. It’s just too convenient! The staff is like family, and we go back for the same things every year like the skeleton that jumps out of the coffin and guards a candy bowl. There’s also something about the bath tubs where you can polish up your pumpkin that is always memorable and magical.
The girls were so brave last year when they did the Tunnel of Terror (a short, slightly spooky hay ride through the back of the gardens), but this year they came back seated in the row in front of where they were going in, and a kind woman was hugging them both and consoling them. Seems they added some spookers with masks that jump out this year and it was a little too much for my lil punkins. Oops! I felt like a bad mom. Not just because I sent them through the Terror of Tunnel alone, but I let something else bother me and ruin the second half of our trip. Sometimes I just get moody, and even a pumpkin patch can’t pull me out of it.
The best part was it happened, AFTER, the girls found their prized pumpkins! I happened to capture the whole discovery Rem made this year which was fun! I caught her elated reaction, her gasp, and I pulled out my camera and snapped the whole thing. I know not everyone is a “picture person” but its times like this that I look back on in my blog and I am happy I have it.
The bounce house is a MUST for my girls, obviously, and they did the train ride and some of the games as well. I think the wrist bands was definitely the way to go, so good call on that husband. He tried the corn and really liked it- mine was a bit mushy and not much flavor. The sweet kettle corn always smells AMAZING and we have bought a bag in the past but never end up eating it all so I passed on it this year.
We may just have to take another trip over there this season… it’s just such a homey, special place for us after visiting six years now! See some of our past visits- Arlo’s FIRST! Also here (my babies!) How about HERE when they were grabbing the baby pumpkins and barely toddling around in moccasins- I could cry! Or HERE when they wore vintage, Rem tore that dress on the bounce house- but she had a blast, and we still aren’t sure about daffy apples… And my loves last year, also in vintage, obvi…See?! Nick’s is OUR place…

Wearing: Rem is wearing a dress I bought last year, which was from a previous season, I can’t find it- but look at this fun dress! Lo is wearing a long sleeve tee from H&M last year, they have great holiday stuff sometimes, and her tutu was thrifted this year. This Halloween Dabbing Unicorn tee is pretty cute though… Also found this adorable Halloween set with a tutu and a long sleeve tee from Walmart for $12! And if you have a babe and you’re an edgy momma, this Toothache print dress is from the same brand as Rem’s dress and on clearance right now for $30! My entire look is thrifted vintage except my ankle booties which are by Marc Fisher (similar).
