"P" is for Pumpkin!
Are we the only family who visited a pumpkin patch, TWICE, and managed to escape without spending $60 on gourds? We had several lovely invitations to visit pumpkin patches with friends, THANK YOU!!!, but with husband's hectic schedule we ended up going on our own last Sunday, and of course the minute we got there we got rained on. So, Tuesday night, we decided to do a redo. We stopped through the drive through at the "Bucks" and spent $10 on festive and fancy pumpkin spice lattes and we headed over to Nick's Garden Center, which happens to be right in our own back yard. Even better, it was FREE to get in! They had a maze, corn hole and ring toss games, a small train ride, go-carts. bouncy castles, a play area, and of course plenty of pumpkins! No petting zoo though, for those of you who might be considering this patch.
At this stage, 17 months, Remy wasn't super psyched about the pumpkins. She was more fascinated by the older kids playing the games, she put herself in the middle of their bean bag tosses and shoved rocks in the holes, and she had a hay day in the corn kernels in the play area. She loved running up and down the aisles of pumpkins and gave one or two a pat every now and then, but getting her to go through a maze, not happening. We let her explore the place, and it was perfect to go on a week night around dinner time because we didn't have crowds to elbow through with our double stroller and Remy had freedom to poke around the place without us worrying too much.
So we decided not to get a pumpkin this year because hubby and I weren't really feeling inspired to carve or craft on one. I had bought Remy a mini pumpkin a couple weeks ago from Sprouts and all she does is toss it on the floor and around our house like a ball. Perhaps when she is older we'll start some sort of pumpkin picking traditions. What do you and your family do around this time of year? What patches have you been to?
We did get one great takeaway from our trips to the patch, fun family time, awesome evening light and photos with pretty orange orbs.
