Mini Adventure: Denver Zoo
Yesterday hubby had a day off work, and we planned ahead of time to take the girls to the zoo. The weather was a little cooler and breezy, compared to the record 81 degrees we had yesterday, but it actually made it the perfect day to go. There weren't a lot of people, which allowed us to let Remy out of the stroller and roam free a little, we weren't sweating in the sun, and we had plenty of space to get in front of the exhibits. The animals were out too!
We started with the monkeys upon Remy's request. I suggested monkeys or polar bears and that would determine our route. After the Great Apes made a public display of aggression and charged at each other, Remy was a little spooked and ready to move on, but up until that point she was pointing, ooh-ing and ahh-ing and having a ball! I found a quiet bench to nurse Arlo a little until we could cross the zoo to get to the seals and Rainforest area. The seals weren't out, but we took a break and ate our packed PBJ's.
We finished the day with a stroll through the rainforest exhibit. Remy's energy picked up just enough to run through squealing at all the "fishes." After seeing the napping tiger and leopard and polar bears on our way out, I convinced Remy to get into her stroller and that we should all go home for a nap because all of the animals were napping too. It's a GREAT day when you end it by managing to get back into the car and home without any screaming, crying or melt downs.
The day was just perfect all around and we were so so happy to have our Baba with us this time around. He works too hard, and here we had him walking miles again on his day off. Thank you so much Baba!
