Curtis Park
Long and loose. That's the look I went for the other day when venturing downtown to LoDo. Baby and I had a fun day in the area of Larimer and 28th-32nd ish. First stop was picking up a couple, fresh, chocolate bars from Ritual Chocolate. Anna and Robbie were the sweetest, pun intended, and gave me a quick tour of the whole Willy Wonka style operation despite having to fulfill a HUGE corporate order (some big wig's entire Christmas list was lucky enough to receive three bars and a special greeting if you were lucky enough to be on it). Seriously straight, pure cocoa right here. More to come on these two in the new year. Next up, Remy and I took a super sunny stroll down to Crema! I went here ages ago, when it was just a little coffee shop. Congrats on all the growth and success Noah! Now expanded, Crema serves up salads, sandwiches, a full pastry case and hangout space for a hipster or two to check their Instagram accounts and use the net. I had the beet salad with a side of orzo, and there was nary a nibble in sight when I left.
When running around town with a baby as of late, now that she is seven months and more interactive, I have been making it a point to find a park nearby and pit stop for some swing time and breaks from the car seat. We did a diapy change in the trunk and off we went. Low and behold, we literally drove two blocks when we ran right into Curtis Park! This is as urban as it gets in Denver folks. We had the playground to ourselves until a group of school children stormed through, climbed atop the slides, kicked up pebbles and jumped here and there to grab monkey bars and rings. Remy absolutely loved the action and stared at the kiddos just anxious to get right in there too! So fun to just watch her watch.
We headed home for nursing, play and a nap, but it was a full morning that I was happy we took advantage of seeing as the temps dramatically dropped yesterday and then today. Brrr...now to think about packing for our NYC trip...
This year, I put up an aluminum Christmas tree I have, a vintage treasure I have had for years, but I have to tell you, it doesn't feel Christmas-y enough for me. I miss the smell of a fresh tree, the colors of the lights and I think Remy would have loved it! I still take her by the tree in the mornings to admire the prettys, and next year we'll definitely go all out. With traveling coming up, I just haven't had it on my mind to bake cookies or do anything too festive here like visiting Zoo Lights or ice rinks. Then again, the tree in Rockefeller and skating in Central Park will more than likely make up for it, I'm sure!
How about you? What's on your agenda this weekend? Still have shopping to do? Well if you need a couple gifts still, one way to tick some peeps off your list, split it up into four, is to enter my giveaway of Colorado goodies! See how on the Facebook page under events here! Ends Sunday so get on it!
